About Miss Claudia

 

Claudia Cuestas is originally from Peru. At the age of 17 she moved with her family  to the United States. She is a Columbia, MD resident since 200I where she lives with her husband and their six year old son.  Growing up with many younger siblings and cousins Claudia developed a sense of teaching, caring and protecting the little ones, which lead to her passion for working with kids and her career as a teacher and caregiver. She enjoys very much what she does and she is passionate about her career. She takes her job very seriously. Teaching children and working with families is a pleasure for her. She believes that children should grow in a happy and safe environment which will help them to grow into good and productive adults.

Claudia graduated from the Northern Virginia Community College in Early Childhood Development. She also has taken classes at the Fairfax County Office of Children Services in Virginia, the Howard Community College and the Howard County Family Childcare Association in Maryland. She has acquired the 45 and 90 hours certification in Childhood Development required by the state of Maryland Department of Education and she also graduated from the MMSR (Maryland Model for School Readiness) training in 2010 through Howard County Office of Children Services. She currently holds level 3 in the Maryland Credential program. She is registered with Maryland Excels program (sponsored by the Maryland State Department of Education).

She has been a Licensed Family Childcare Provider and an Early Childhood Educator since September 2001. She has been a member of the Howard County Family Childcare Association since April of 2001 as well as a member of the Maryland State Family Childcare Association, the NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) and the National Association for Family Childcare.

She is currently the Vice President of Education for the Howard County Family Childcare Association.

She has been awarded twice by the Howard County Executive, Ken Ullman, for best Infant/Toddler Childcare Provider in Howard County and received two awards  in 2010 and 2012 consecutively for making a difference in the life of a child at the “Celebrating Successes in Children Event” in Howard County.
